Boulder, CO - Lauan (lew - AHN) Records, "The Jamband Label", announced today it will release its latest album, Three Sets Volume 2, on June 13 th 2000. This is the second volume in the critically acclaimed Three Sets live concert CD series.
For Three Sets Volume 2, Lauan Records has assembled three of the rising stars of the jamband scene. The first band on the CD is LARRY from Austin, Texas. LARRY consists of seven guys who are able to marry strong songwriting skills with an incredible gift of jam. Known for their extended jams, 30 minute songs and 2 hour sets, Ancient Harmony's live shows have delighted audiences to the point of exhaustion in dynamic cycles of delicate picking, picturesque lyrics and thundering crescendos both on the road and in their home town of Albany, Georgia. Wise Monkey Orchestra from San Diego is an extremely tight seven piece who shines both in the extended jam as well as in a short, tight song. Featuring dynamic female lead vocals and a horn section, Wise Monkey Orchestra plays a unique brand of funk, which you cannot help but dance to. If you've heard these guys before, you know you're in for a treat, and if not, you certainly will be hearing their names in the next year.

Making this album even more of a treat for jamband fans is the fact that it is compiled from all live material. There's really nothing that captures the soul of music better than a live album. While you can't beat the feeling of actually being at a concert, smoke in the air, lights up above, and the band giving it their all up on stage, a live recording of that show can bring you closer to the music than a studio mix ever could.

That's why the gang at Lauan put together this compilation album for all the fans. Containing compiled sets from actual live shows of these three groups, the aptly titled Three Sets series of albums will have you feeling the crowd as you listen to some of the juiciest sounding recordings and hottest jams from their recent tours. Three Sets Volume 2 is a very full length CD running a total of 73 minutes and 59 seconds, giving as much music as possible on a single compact disc.

Lauan Records, based in Boulder CO, is creating a community of jambands organized under a unified label for better recognition, support, distribution, and ultimately sales of albums and tickets. At heart, the formula is simple; Lauan handpicks its favorite bands from the jamband community. As a result, the management of Lauan is fans of all the bands with whom we work. Hopefully, if you agree with our taste in music, you'll check out all of the bands under the Lauan umbrella. After all, if you're a fan of one of Lauan's bands, you're likely to really like the other bands working with Lauan.

The goal of the albums in the Three Sets series is to help share the audiences of all three bands, whose music would most likely appeal to any fan of any one of the bands. Three Sets will help generate fans for each band well outside of their home region, helping all three grow to a national level. We at Lauan are particularly excited about this release. While the public and press have not yet heard this CD, we've already found a post on the Internet from someone who had heard a leaked copy. Three Sets Volume 2 was described as being "crystal clear and so tight that it damn near brought a tear to my eye. Gave me goose bumps to say the least. Everyone has to get this puppy when it comes out. It's a major evolution!" We feel the same way and cannot wait for the public to actually hear this material.
